We can experience our corporeality as dynamic, animating forces,

and as shifting forms of possibility

that materialize our connectivity

through an exquisitely beautiful interbodied world.

Without dynamic aliveness body becomes an object of the past and not a subject of the moment. Living in the present tense, as each new ‘now’ emerges, enables us to be responsive and biologically dynamic by activating our bodies into engaging the actual moment we’re creating.

The uniqueness of our identities have their origins in the event of our births.

Dancing is the search for one owns origin.

responsive bodywork approaches ARE DESIGNED TO RESPOND TO THE INTENSITY OF YOUR DAILY KINETIC ACTION AND HUMAN EFFORTS, THEY ARE NOT AGE SPECIFIC NOR AGE-BIASED, THERE IS NO HIERARCHY OF BEAUTY, AND THIN DOES NOT RULE AS KING OR QUEEN...WHAT RULES TOTALLY, IS YOUR GOVERNING CONSCIOUSNESS. WHEN THE CONSCIOUSNESS IS OPEN, DYNAMIC AND LIVING... YOU ARE OF THE UTMOST BEAUTY AND POWER. YOUTH IS NOT A DETERMINATE OF POWER, POWER IS A FUNCTION OF CONSCIOUSNESS, YOUR BODY IS AN EXPRESSION OF YOUR CONSCIOUS ACTION...IF YOU CHOOSE TO STAY POWERFUL, YOUR BODY IS DESIGNED TO RESPOND TO THAT REQUEST.

I'M AM SO EXCITED TO BE SHARING THIS NEW WAY OF TEACHING HUMAN BODIES TO MAXIMIZE THEIR PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE AND INCREASE KNOWLEDGE OF THEIR INDIVIDUAL BODIES AS POWERFUL AGENTS FOR HUMAN ACTION. I HOPE I MAY HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH YOU, TO MARVEL AT YOUR LIMITLESS CAPACITY TO BE VIBRANTLY RESOURCED AND PHYSICALLY EMPOWERED.

What Is responsive bodywork and What does it DO?

Responsive Body is an embodied process for encountering the body's inherent capacity as a response system for transformation and healing. Through guided movement, dialogue and hands-on body-to-body-work, we will explore how our bodies can speak directly to us, move us through challenge, and be a deep resource for recovery. Utilizing principles from Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Polarity Therapy and Dance as Embodiment, the workshop will deepen our sense of being-body, through full-bodied listening and encounters with intelligent unfolding.

Responsive Body workshops and learning labs are tailored towards dancers, educators, choreographers looking to strengthen their understanding of movement as bodied language and practice for transformative healing; and somatic therapists looking to expand their sense of embodiment and capacity to feel sensation.

  • MOVEMENT THROUGH THE "EMOTIONAL ANATOMY" OF THE BODY

  • RE-CALIBRATES THE NEUROMUSCULAR SYSTEM FOR IDEAL INTEGRATED FUNCTIONALITY.

  • RESOURCES THE HUMAN BEING AND HUMAN BODY AS A LIMITLESS SOURCE OF POSSIBILITIES

  • REAFFIRMS THAT YOUR BODY CAN TRANSFORM

  • TEACHES YOU THAT it is your birth rite to love your body

A SPECIALIZED EMBBODIED PRACTICE "RE-STITCHES" THE BODY FORM

INTO DYNAMICALLY FUNCTIONAL PATTERNS THROUGH

  • MUSCULAR "RE-THREADING"

  • NEUROMUSCULAR IMPROVEMENT

  • interconnectivity with other bodies

  • kinetically moving energy states

  • recognizing body’s inherent intelligence

  • acknowledging pain as an origin point for transformation

“Holly Johnston knows the body like no one I have ever met. A a dance artist, I became tired of seeing physicians who didn’t understand the work I was doing, who would misdiagnose or problem solve in a way I knew was harmful to myself and my art form. Holly’s understanding of the dancing body as well as her focus and awareness of the nervous system, bring a whole new level to traditional physical therapy. Working from a holistic place, I have better understood the “why” of my injuries and tensions, not just the “how” of a quick fix-it. She works on a deeper level, one that has helped me better understand my body, and myself. The bodywork I do with her shows up not just in my dancing life, but as I move throughout the world day to day. I leave our sessions feeling healthy, confident, peaceful, and with new information about my body organism. THANK YOU, HOLLY.”

Audrey Collette, Dance Artist

I have been under the care of Holly for the last one and a half years and she has helped me so many times that I call her my miracle worker. Long story short I had many years of disabling low back problems. I tried many things including epidural steroid injections, physical therapy, rest, alternative exercise-based therapy like egoscue , Gokhle method acupuncture and chiropractic care . I found myself in a cycle where I wasn’t able to be functional and do my job as a surgeon or enjoy the physical activities like hiking and skiing. I credit Holly for really helping me and my body recover to a point where I am living a full life again . She has an amazing ability to understand what’s wrong with my body and fix it in a session. She understands how muscle groups work together and is a genius in pinpointing the problem. Holly has helped me undo a lot of the chronic dysfunction that my muscles and joints had developed over years and I use her as a guide, personal trainer and bodywork specialist. She has also given my body the confidence to do the things I love ! Thank you Holly and I am so glad I found you !

Holly’s deep knowledge of the human body’s anatomy and function is matched by her intuitive grasp of how mental and emotional factors shape physiology. She is one of the few practitioners with whom I’ve worked who can seamlessly navigate these different layers. She combines scientific precision with keen insight into your body’s capacity to grow and change.

Holly uses her hands to intuitively connect to the body and offer transformative possibilities to the people she works with. In my work with Holly, I have had chronic pains dissolve, efficiently changed ingrained movement patterns and unlocked new potentials for movement in my body. After my first intensive sessions with Holly, my own mother was astonished by how quickly my body had transformed it’s shape - my feet had functional arches for the first time, and I was using my legs so differently that the visible shape had changed immensely.

However, to me, these changes are only symptomatic of what Holly’s work truly accomplishes for her clients. What Holly does brilliantly is connect to each client and see a greater potential for them to fulfill, on physical, psychological and emotional levels. While she uses her hands to touch the flesh, she also reaches deeper - healing lost hurts and calling forward new strength and power. Working with Holly helped me to discover and overcome hidden trauma, and paved the way for me to pursue a professional career as a dance artist. She helped me to unlock my own potential and gave me the capacity to believe in myself and my capacity to deepen, grow and transform.

It is for this reason that I always recommend Holly as a practitioner for EVERY body, she doesn’t merely ask that you show up to the session and allow her to ‘fix’ you. Instead she opens the door so that you might journey down a new path of empowerment, where you have the strength to believe in and show up for your own healing and growth, and that you realize one day that you were never broken to begin with. This is Holly’s profound gift and I am so grateful to receive her gifts.

Holly Johnston is nothing short of a miracle worker when it comes to her bodywork practice. I began dancing young and have suffered a number of injuries both acute and chronic, leaving me with constant pain and discomfort. At 19, I began seeing a physical therapist that was unsuccessful in helping me make progress in my healing. Soon after, I met Holly and after our first session together, I already began to feel relief from pain that had been plaguing me for years. In our first session, she took the time to ask me about my history: my family, relationships, injuries, etc. This was the first time a body-worker or health practitioner had taken the time to ask me who I was, and dig deeply into why some of this pain I was experiencing manifested physically. I found someone who addressed the many needs I have in my healing process, some of which I did not know was necessary for me until I met her (including addressing past trauma, the psychosomatic connections between physical sensation and emotional experience, energy healing, and healing through movement). In our first session, my body was incredibly resistant to change. In both of our persistence, Holly was patient in earning me and my body’s trust that allowed us to make major changes in only a few sessions. Over the years, there have been points I saw Holly every week as well as only every few months. In the times I was seeing her every week, we were able to recognize patterns imprinted in my body and work to support beneficial patterns and disrupt and redirect those that were not. Now only seeing her every few months, my body has learned to remember, with Holly’s patient guidance, how to quickly make big changes towards dynamic efficiency. Not only has working with Holly given me relief from years of pain and completely re-patterned my body, but I have learned more about my body’s needs in healing, about my own anatomy and body’s patterns, the relationships I have between my emotions and physical sensations, how to further prevent pain, tools to help me manage pain and injuries on my own, and empowered me as an artist and as a human.

Twyla Malchow-Hay, Dance Artist

Holly has a rare talent. She seems to know my body better than I know it myself and she is capable of affecting it on at least three levels at the same time: physical, energetic and psychic. This ability cannot be taught. It’s an innate gift. This makes Holly a true healer.
